These delicious linzer cookies are perfect for the holiday season and they will be a nice addition to the dinner table. Although they may take a little longer to make, I guarantee that everyone will love them. So let’s see how can you create this beautiful dessert.

Ingredients
- 600 g of flour
- 420 g of butter
- 180 g of powdered sugar
- 3 egg yolks
- 2-3 tablespoons of lemon juice
- 3 pinches of salt
- zest of a lemon
Topping
- 200 g of chocolate
- 1.5 tablespoons of oil
- walnuts
Filling
apricot or strawberry or raspberry jam
LET’S BAKE THE LINZER…

STEP 1: Mix the salt and flour. Crumble the room-temperature butter into the flour, then add the powdered sugar, egg yolks, lemon juice and lemon zest.
STEP 2: Knead the ingredients into a dough. At the beginning it will be hard to knead: just work with your hands, it will become one piece.
STEP 3: Cut the dough in half and wrap them with plastic foil. Place the dough in the fridge for at least 60 minutes. After resting, on a well-floured surface roll out the dough to 1/8 inch (3-4 mm) thick and with a cookie cutter cut out the desired shapes. The best is if the size is not wider than 2.5 inches (6.5 cm). You can make them smaller if you wanted to make bite-size cookies for a party.
STEP 4: Carefully place them in a paper-lined baking pan and bake them in a preheated 355F oven for approximately 8-10 minutes. The top should look pale when it’s done. They might have a light golden tone around the edges, then you can be sure they are done. Let them cool down in the baking tray, otherwise, they will brake.
Note
Make sure that don’t over-bake them. Rotate at least 2 baking trays because you will have lots of cookies. Always knead the leftover cut-out dough together and roll it out then cut it again.
STEP 5: Once the cookies are at room temperature, sandwich them by applying jam in the middle. Wait an hour before you dip them in chocolate.

STEP 6: Melt the chocolate in a double boiler. Once it melts, add the oil and stir it well.
STEP 7: Roast the walnuts in a preheated 355F oven for approximately 8 minutes.
STEP 8: Dip one side of the linzer cookie in the hot chocolate, then place it on a tray. Add 1 piece of walnut in the middle and wait until the chocolate hardens. Don’t skip roasting the walnuts, they taste better and crunchier.
Linzer cookies are easy to make. Store them in an airtight container. Enjoy!
