I only started to use asparagus when I moved to Ireland and began to discover unfamiliar vegetables. One of the simple ways to cook this beautiful vegetable is to sauté them. The butter and garlic give a tasty twist to it. Also, it is a perfect side dish with chicken, pasta, fish and seafood. So let’s see how you can cook asparagus like a pro.

How to cook asparagus like a pro
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 bunch of fresh asparagus
- 3 cloves garlic, chopped
- Salt, pepper
Directions
Step 1: Prepare your asparagus

First, clean your asparagus by removing the woody part of the spears.
Step 2: Get ready to cook
After washing the asparagus, spread them on a tray.
Step 3: Begin to cook

Heat a large cast-iron skillet (frying pan) on medium heat and place the asparagus layering evenly. While dry roasting them (1 minute), shake them from time to time. Then season with salt and pepper. Finally, add the garlic and ex-virgin olive. Cook for 45 seconds on each side or until the asparagus is tender.
As you see cooking asparagus like a pro is very easy and the result is delightful. I guarantee your taste buds will love a tender, crispy, tasty side dish.
TIPS
- You can make this recipe with butter or margarine.
- To avoid the garlic being burned, add it towards the very end of the cooking time.
- You can add your favourite herbs such as parsley.
- If you want, you can blanch the asparagus beforehand. Place them in boiling water and cook them partially (bright green and tender), then as a finish saute them.
